Voodoo Ray – A Guy Called Gerald

voodoo-ray-A-GUY-CALLED-GERALD

Voodoo Ray

This track was the warm up tune for The Stone Roses gigs and is an all time classic acid house dance track circa 1989. A Guy Called Gerald also remixed the Fools Gold track by The Stone Roses which is sound, every time i hear it on Napster it takes me back to the raves and indie dance clubs of London where it was played in the early 90’s.

Ian Brown of The Stone Roses and Manchester

Ian Brown has been a character in my life since 1989.

Ian Brown and The Stone Roses

Front man of the Infamous and much respected band The Stone Roses he has recently been evolving his intellect, instinctual pulse and famed talent as a solo artist. His latest single is regularly played on mainstream radio and hes generally considered a masterful psychedelic guru..just listen to F.E.A.R. or any of the tracks of Solarized and you just know hes got it still just as much as when they led the Madchester Scene as the chief protagonists and much more talented than the scally bands that all hit the big time (like are you havin a fuckin laugh) Northside, The Inspiral Carpets (good at the time if you were on acid), The Charlatans (still going strong), The Happy Mondays (Bezz? Shaun and all his e-head brothers on guitar and some mad crack whore like female vocalist who i never liked).

IanBrown_5

Well Brown still remains and is going strong (whatever happened to Squire? Seahorses..i never even heard one good track!) and will remain a god like figure in many of our minds and will always be the brown in Sheilas sugar or was that Sallys cinnamon?

We all hope Ian Brown keeps the faith and sticks to his guns we’ll all be listening;  he once said that the worst thing that ever happened to him was nearly losing his council house in Manchester not sure if that was before he got locked up in Strangeways for air rage offence when he said he was gonna cut of an air hostess’s hands…reckon his past those episode’s now and can only grow stronger. Look out for him on tour and buy his new single..the dream lives on.

Heres his best song of his new album – My Way – Stellify

ianbrown2

Footnote: This footage was the first time most of us in Britain got to see Ian Brown and its testimonial to his guile as he single handily tells the bbc where to stick it…

ANOTHER MIRACLE BY NEW EDUCATION…!!

Well people before I begin I would just like to apologise for the lack of  contribution towards this site over the past few months. I have been very busy with things out of my control, but you don’t wanna know about that rubbish!!! LOL.

RIGHT!!!! Over them past few Months a fookin amazing band of whom I have posted about before and I do hope that you did manage to check them out when and whilst they were touring, have been progressing and sailing along to the appreciation that they should have….. NEW EDUCATION…. They have just released there New Single ANOTHER MIRACLE on the 13th of July, they also had a very honest write up in NME and well lets say that it was how a write up shud be, no rubbish about how bands sound like another band or there a new type of music.

new-education-rebel-jukebox

Here is The Track Another Miracle

Here is a lovely piece of footage Live In The Underground Stoke Enjoy The song is called TODAY

Also whilst this post was under construction it has come to my attention and hopefully yours another graceful 2 page Write up about them in NME has been done you can see this in the 1st of August issue pages 18 & 19 possibly one of the top dollar write ups I have seen. I sincerly hope you go and buy it.

You can check there tuneage via their page on Myspace.!!!!!!!!

In my opinion I’m hoping this is the start of something great for the Music scene.  A band that dunner fuckin moan about the same old crap, remember you only live once, times ARE  fuckin hard and life is tough, so get a grip and get use to it!, make the most of what you have not what you cant!

Suede-The Beautiful Ones

Suede-Beautiful-Ones.wma

SUEDE-COMING-UP-FREE-DOWNLOAD-THE-BEAUTIFUL-ONES

This track appeared on the Coming Up Album 1997. I think, as you’ll agree, this is Brett Anderson’s best effort…i just love that downbeat guitar crashing around as he sings his heart out about London’s down and outs.

The Cure

24_robertsmith_lgl

Apart from looking like a cross between Beetlejuice and that bitch off  “Through the Cakehole” this dude has serious stlye and charisma. Robert Smith and The Cure for those few of you who don’t know defined a generation and transformed the English music scene into what it is today influencing some of the greatest bands then and now.

robert_smith

I was hooked  at 14 (that was 1986 if you’d like to know my age) having robed my my older brothers tapes (and its not just for those art school airheads). They took us from punk and early electronica and the new romantic scene into one of the very first few English indie bands and later then going on to conquer the mainstream with their mix of synths, drum machines and whirling tube screaming guitars over laid with the voice of a tortured misfit with a highly expressive voice and creative lyrics with immaculately timed one liners to blow you away.

the-cure_001209_MainPicture

Now there part of musical history and bound to release only rehashed compilation albums to sell their new stuff to the iTunes crowd who accept  The Cure as part of the mainstream establishment sad that is as I so miss that raw edge and the underground is always much more fun.

Check this track out: The Kiss taken from the 1987 Album Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me.

The Smashing Pumkins

1979 Smashing Pumkins

Since the 1960’s America has failed to provide the world with any decent bands. Oh you say The Doors, The Velvet Underground. Well The Smashing Pumpkins in my opinion are the best band from the U.S.A. since Nirvana. This tracks taken from the 1979 e.p. Virgin Records 1996 and it rocks!! Get it on….subscribe to the podcast for more great music..Join The Rebellion!!!

The La’s “There She Goes”

THE_LASThe+Las

The-Las-There-She-Goes.mp3

The La’s were classic indie popsters from the Late 80’s and early 90’s.  From Liverpool their song “There She Goes” will remain an English indie classic. Pictures of the original album art (from their only Album “The La’s”) and Lee Mavers and the band above.

Check this Fuckin shite, not live piss take video from very early on…wait tell the end when the dumb bitch interviewer asks some wank question and Lee Mavers tells to her to go fuck her self – “About WHAT???!!!!” with proper scouse lads response you’d hear in any Liverpool Boozer today…very amusing! (Also Look out for the coat hanging off one of the guitars).

Why was this band so cocky, ‘couldn’t be bothered’ and bored by it all when at the time (1989-1990) they could have blown the Manchester scene off the face of the whole bloody rainy North and shud have become the best band from Liverpool, and anywhere else in Britain, EVER!!! what a waste of pure talent.

This one though is pure class, as after a shite ‘we cant be bothered’ interview by some foreign bird, Mavers sings his fuckin heart out live with the song “Timeless Melody” accompanied by his acoustic guitar and by one of the younger scouse band members, John Powers of Cast fame. It just goes to show that Lee Mavers was an under achieving musical genius. Get it on…

THE STEALS!!

Here is some beautiful tuneage and lyrics for all you out there, I randomly found these on the net when I was seeing if band names existed and if they were any good. i can tell you it took me about two minutes and I found these, why have I never heard of these Fookin amazing!!!!

There are two places you can check these out one which is under the lead singers page JAYN HANNA who by the way has one of the most calming and exquisite voices I have heard for a long time. Also the band page who just totally compliment the singing with every sound that they make THE STEALS. Anyone who has some sense of admiration for quality songage will adore these. It to me feels like endless imagination in one second. If you could think of everything fascinating or as if you were flying over land that no man had ever touched all at once. Tis pure heavenly music.

Go check them out and enjoy I’ll leave you with a video also The songs called ‘Out Of My Hands’. Ive also come across a remix for you which was on Nick Warren’s Global Underground GU 35 Live in LIMA which is awsome by the way go check it out or buy it, download it, whatever.

If anyone knows of any gigs that these guys are doing please post them, as I would love to go and see them play live.

Over n Out

Recovering From The Weekend???

I sit here on a Sunday absolutley winding down from a weekend of partying and madness, I get a friend request on myspace, I click out of interest a band called Dead Mellotron comes my way exactly the thing i wanted to hear at that moment in time, was like fate or something, my emotions clashed with the sweet sound of their music. Why are’nt bands like this topping the charts why are’nt they being plastered on MTV in NME on 4Music or Sitting in your CD collection. What has happend to the music scene have you ever wondered????

They are shit loadsa bands out there like this man, but because of big huge record labels with there mighty grasp are saying fuck off you wont sell, not saying they dont bring out any decent stuff. But its like all your small high street stores being drained out by huge supermarkets squeezing every customer away. Welcome to consumerism, welcome to the Machine. It causes a breakdown of realness a touch of culture, just seems like your at your 8th birthday party and you dancin to Saturday night I like the way you move by Wigfield…..Now Ive never done that so… but to put the picture and set the scene like Ive seen it happen OK lol….

Have a listen to these bad boys from Monroe, Louisiana, United States of  A..merica. sit dwn grab a brew, beer or short skin up a bifter whatever chill out and relax.

And Just a message to all those who have or whom are going to sign up. If you see any bands or artists you like and you can get any content, pictures, music, video’s get them on here…. Big or small it doesnt matter what music it is. Just bosh it on !!! Rise up!!! Rebel!! Stop the Fat Cats from decieving you out of your money and stop bull crap like the Ting Tings getting released and misleading the youth of  today. Music is about expression!!!

So if you have a voice speak up.
